Winter is time for hibernation, not just for bears and bats but also for people like me! I will happily bury myself into the couch, snooze through the winter and come back to life when the sunny summer shows it’s face again. But thanks to the toddler who is easily annoyed and turns on the tantrum mode when stuck inside the house for longer hours, I’m forced to pull up my socks and head out. Though the crispy cold air is refreshing, it makes my skin ache for a self-care routine.
We all know the secret behind the radiant, glowing skin – Cleanse, Exfoliate and Moisturize. But who has all the time to practice all this religiously? Definitely, Not me! Instead, I came up with a simple skin care routine with my favorite skincare brand – Les Produits De Maya. It takes less than 3 minutes, I only do it twice or thrice a week, and it works wonders for my skin.
Brown Sugar and Les Produits De Maya liniment scrub:
This scrub is delicious! Just mix half a teaspoon of brown sugar with three teaspoons of Les Produits De Maya liniment and scrub it gently all over your face and neck. Wash with lukewarm water and pat dry.I do this before I hit the sack during weekdays. It instantly makes my face feel hydrated and moisturized. Les Produits De Maya liniment is a versatile skin care product that wraps up all the skin care essentials in a tiny bottle. Olive oil is a great moisturizer, and it comes with tons of anti-aging antioxidants to make your skin look young.
Lime water in the liniment works to restore to the natural pH of your skin. Don’t recall pH? Potential of hydrogen? Doesn’t ring a bell? Well, Let me share with you my over flowing knowledge of high school chemistry. Stay with me; I promise not to bore you. pH measures the acidic/alkaline nature, and it ranges between 0-14 ( 0-7 is acidic, and 7-14 means alkaline.) Our skin has a natural built-in ability to protect itself from stress, dirt, bacteria, and other elements. Our skin does that by forming a slightly acidic barrier layer with a pH level of 5.5. Maintaining this level of pH is the key to the healthy looking skin. In other words, disrupting this pH level means inviting breakouts, acne and other skin sensitivities with an open door. So the next time your skin is throwing a fit, take it as a sign that your skin’s pH level needs to be restored. Lime water in Les Produits De Maya liniment gently cleanses and restores the natural pH level of the skin.
Adding brown sugar to the liniment makes this a gentle scrub that exfoliates, removes dead cells, clears dirt and other unwanted residues from the skin. But isn’t brown sugar too harsh for the face? Well, it depends on how much sugar you add, how long and how hard you scrub. You certainly don’t want to run coarse sugar crystals against your face. Let them dissolve in the liniment and be gentle while you scrub. If you have a very sensitive skin, then skip sugar instead try this. Take a soft washcloth and squeeze some liniment over it and gently massage your face with it. I tried using Oko creations washcloth with liniment, and it gave me similar results. I also use the same mixture to scrub my chapped lips gently.
Coka Whipped body butter & Vegan soap :
Dry and cold weather leave your skin feel dry and itchy? How about a spending a day at the spa, wrapped up in a chocolate body mask followed by an hour of hot stone massage? Oh, how I wish! But in reality, I barely get to run the loofah all over my body while attempting to take a shower with the toddler whining in the background (or sometimes jumps into the bathtub). To make the most of the limited time I get, I have to get the best products in the line , which is – Les Produits De Maya vegan soap followed by treating my dry skin to rich Coka Body butter. Made out of Carnauba wax, this soap is 100% vegan and does not contain any animal products. Organic Olive and Coconut oil envelop my skin with all the moisture needed to combat dry winter spells.
Once out of the shower, I take a scoop of Les Produits De Maya whipped body butter CoKa and applied it liberally to the skin. The Coka body butter is brimming with moisturizing ingredients like Avocado oil, Coconut oil, Shea butter and Vitamin E. Applying this body butter once, keeps my skin hydrated for almost the whole day! I usually only re-apply on my feet before going to bed.
There you have it, my simple yet effective winter skin care routine to beat the cold winter spells. Try this, and you will see a noticeable difference in your skin within weeks.
